Onyx concept is proud it add its new conversion to its modified Range Rover collection after releasing its sport conversion a few months ago. The Range Rover Vogue conversion is another great contribution by the Irish tuner with flowing body lines and an array of high-quality solid carbon-fiber attachments. The body kit consists of subtle wide arches, complete front and rear bumpers, door moldings, and carbon attachments for the front and rear. Onyx replaces Land Rover’s original round spotlights with its own high-power output LEDs. The interior of the vehicle has also had the Onyx makeover with full perforated buffalo-hide re-trimmed leather from top to toe including the seats, doors, center console, and logoed headrests. Onyx have also added its own carbon-fiber interior paneling package with such pieces as door handles and heater-vent surrounds.

Onyx also just released its own 22-inch TPM-edition wheels, which are correctly offset for both vogue and sport-arch kits. The final piece of the Onyx jigsaw is the engine which gets an extra 50 hp in diesel models and almost 80 hp on supercharged models. Onyx have told us that from January both its Range Rover Sport and Vogue conversions will fit the new 2010 models with some minor cosmetic adjustments.

As I picked up the duPont Registry I bought while grocery shopping today, I thought the same Asanti ad for its latest ultra-exclusive wheel set, the Asanti Black Series, would appear. As I paged through, I saw the same ad, but something was different. There were three other sets of wheels at the bottom, which turned out to be their uber-ultra-mega-expensive Diamond Collection. The base wheel, made of cubic Zirconium, was priced at $250,000, a quarter of the price of the wheel we all know of, the famous $1,000,000 Diamond/Sapphire wheel set that was displayed at SEMA and comes with a free Bentley. But there was also another wheel on the page, which hasn’t gotten any of the attention of its $1-million brother. A 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible 428 Cobra Jet (Lot S105.1) selling for $185,000 took the top spot at Mecum’s Kansas City Auction.  The Rotisserie-restored, 24,000-mile car was originally ordered as a Ford executive car and is one of only 33 KR convertibles with air conditioning and 4-speed.

Electric Cars of Springfield (ECOS), taking full advantage of an invitation from duPont Registry, brought their recently constructed all-electric supercar to SEMA 2009. The bright orange Harbinger™ (photo above), with its Lamborghini-looks drew lots of attention with the likes of Diggity Dave stopping by for an extended chat. Its open scissor-door seemed to lure passing show professionals who used the two-seater as an impromptu posing podium.

Besides being a head-turner, the car also acted as a platform for a product from another Missouri company. EVInstruments had their customizable MiMod EV monitoring system with its touchscreen installed in the craft ready to provide potential drivers with GPS, stereo and wireless internet as well as real-time info on things like battery condition and power consumption.

Built on a German‐engineered aluminum frame and suspension system of undetermined origin, the Harbinger uses an 11″ Netgain DC motor to get its bad self up to 60 mph in about 5 seconds before heading off to the electronically-imposed limit of 117 mph. Lurking beneath the composite body lies 30 kWh of lithium ion batteries said to be worth up to 150 miles of range. The social media-friendly (Facebook/Twitter) company hopes its beast will bewitch buyers into parting with $89,995 and is now accepting reservations for a limited production scheduled to start in February.

The Lingenfelter T/A – the latest concept car featuring high performance and amazing design from Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) – has won a Mothers(r) Choice Award for excellence in automotive design at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

The Mothers Choice Award winners are judged by a panel of industry experts during the SEMA Show and presented to a standout vehicle in each of several categories.  Judging is based on overall appearance, attention to detail, integration of custom and stock elements, paint finish, creative vision and execution of concept.  While Mothers Choice Award winners are considered winners in their own right, they are also in contention for the Mothers Shine Award.

The Lingenfelter T/A is a 2010 Camaro with custom-molded body styling that emulates the muscle-heavy cars from the ’70s.  It features the engine specialist’s custom Racing Head Service (RHS) aluminum engine block with an impressive 455 cubic inch displacement.

“We are very proud to receive a Mothers Choice Award for the design of our T/A concept car, which we built to turn the heads of muscle car enthusiasts as well as to demonstrate our team’s extensive knowledge of power and automotive technology,” said Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.

The Lingenfelter T/A features 4.155″ bore Diamond 11.5:1 compression ratio pistons and a 4.200″ stroke Lunati forged crankshaft.  Lingenfelter Performance Engineering-brand CNC ported and polished LS7 heads and an LSX FAST 102 intake finish off the engine, which produces 655 hp and 610 ft.-lbs. of torque.

To assist the Lingenfelter T/A in handling that raw power, the car also features a Lingenfelter 6-bolt LS9 twin disk flywheel and clutch assembly and heavy-duty Driveshaft Shop halfshafts.

Body enhancements to the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering concept vehicle include a dramatic new hood with a shaker scoop and blue keyed stripe.  A new front fascia borrows from the vehicle’s inspired muscle car heritage, and incorporates custom head lamps, grille and turn signals for authentic detailing.  The car’s fender has a functional side extractor scoop and the rear quarter has a leading edge wheel flair.  Dramatic details in the back again point to the vehicle’s 1970s roots.  Rear corners of the car have been extended nearly 4-inch with a wrapped down stand-up spoiler.  Custom-created taillight housings nicely complement the package.

Wheels are custom designed 20-inch Honeycomb’s with bright brushed aluminum details and are shorn with Nitto Tires in size 275/40ZR20 fronts and 315/35ZR20 rears.

A custom-designed CORSA Performance stainless steel exhaust provides even more torque for the Lingenfelter T/A concept vehicle, which is finished in an icy, bright white with an electric blue stripe running from front to rear.  A bright blue woven vinyl seat inserts and metal turned instrument panel accents highlight the interior, while Lingenfelter badges adorn the exterior.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering’s (LPE) 750 hp supercharged 2010 LS7 Camaro SS was awarded the General Motors Design Award for Best Sports Car during the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
